I received my official-issue Apple Campus Rep Aluminum 12″ PowerBook G4 today. I went to the dentist, and after they got done berating me for not flossing every seven and a half minutes and I finally got out the door, it was sitting on my porch, all wrapped in brown paper package. It was not tied with string however, which hardly came as a disappointment in the midst of the elation I felt. It was one of the most beautiful packages I’ve ever seen.

Specs, for the interested:

  • 1 GHz PowerPC G4
  • 768 MB DDR RAM
  • 80 GB hard drive
  • SuperDrive!
  • GeForce 5200FX w/ 32 MB VRAM

This Quartz Extreme stuff is really badass. I never knew how much I was missing until I actually sat down and used it for an extended period of time. The Exposé display on this thing is so damn fast, it’s really amazing. The thing that I don’t really like about it is how small it is. The screen is tiny. I can barely see anything on it because everything is miniaturized by 30% from my old screen. It also gets really hot, really fast.

And then I had to go back and get a filling, which turned into two. Curse you, dentistry!
