As far as dancing is concerned, it is not usually the first thing that pops into mind when I think of a good time, nor, I imagine, the minds of most of my kind. It is something that requires untold amounts of skill, and, unfortunately, the only way to obtain the necessary levels (taking the Coordination feat at level 5 allows one to ignore the -4 two left feet penalty) is to go practice with other people. This is, of course, generally deplorable.
Leave it, then, to those crazy Japanese to invent a way to entice even the nerdiest, geekiest, and unwieldy-est of us all to start movin’ our feet, to the rhythm, yeah, I can feel the beat, mmhmm, we gettin’ wif the heat, ooo…
By now any of you who are reasonably well connected with the scene will understand that I can only be speaking of Dance Dance Revolution, truly a revolution of dance dance. The game enables you to practice dancing in the privacy and comfort of your own home, so that you don’t have to be embarrassed when you slam into the wall trying to waltz. My friend across the street (read: hallway) brought the game and two dance pads from home. I just finished a lengthy three hour set of 140-200 bpm tripping over my feet. My shins? Broken? Yes.
And I’m so hungry, I could easily walk down the stairs to the cafetorium and acquire nutrient substance, which is, of course, what they serve here. Nobody really calls it food.

Wow. Suddenly you have achieved a new level of geekiness. But not quite as much as this guy I saw at the mall going back and forth between the platforms…. Anyway, when are we going to LAN?
