If you’re reading this from the RSS feed, check out the website – it’s pretty fun now. Also, I’m aware the that the styles are a little screwy for you, I’ll fix that Real Soon Now.
If you’re already at the website, or if you just arrived here from your RSS reader, what do you think? I started out to design a whole new look, and about ten minutes in I realized the design I was working with was so simple that I could easily generalize it out. Couple that with the skills I acquired at my job this summer and you’re talking about around four hours from conception to nearly complete implementation. Wow!
If you’re viewing this from IE (El Charlito, I’m looking at you here), I’m sure the site looks like garbage (I can’t test it out because my Windows box is currently in a state of packitude re: the coming move, but I know IE doesn’t support transparency in PNGs or fixed positioning through CSS [yet… IE7 will, though, so upgrade as soon as that comes out or JUST GET FIREFOX YOU HEATHEN]).
Go ahead, test it out. You can click on the link below (most) of the images I post to set them as your background, or choose from a few pre-made ones in the upper-left corner of your screen. I have to recommend those because they’re smaller and optimized so they’ll load much faster.
I would say more but somebody is having a birthday party and she’s making spaghetti, a wholesome substance to sustain my endeavors which I have neither the will nor the inclination to turn down. I wish you luck in… well, whatever you’re eating for dinner tonight.

Yeah . . . looks super . . . you are a sexy mother-fucker . . . uh, is that okay if I use such profane and barbaric tongue? Yeah so, IE looks okay here . . . uh, sad I knew what that is . . . whatever.
I’m going to call you in the near future . . . sorry for bugging you so much . . . love you!

I’ll have you know that I downloaded Firefox for the express purpose of accepting your challenge; in response, I must say that the site -still- looks like ass. And by -still-, I mean this version. The minimalist one was growing on me. This one makes text hard to read, such as with Steve’s up above. The whole white-on-white thing just doesn’t, y’know, -work-.
PS – Firefox blegh.

Yeah, Chuck has got it. It’s a good concept you’ve got going here. Just needs some revision. Comment boxes are screwy and the only other thing I noticed is that the categories on the main page are drawing over each other.

I vote you put it back into the previous version and give this one a little more beta time? ; )

Yeah, I had about four hours to work on it and then boom INSANITY BUSY AAAAGGHHHHH and now I’m in Kansas City and then I’ll be in CO and then I’ll be moving back into the dorms and then school starts and I’ll be doing demos and welcome week and sometime in there I’d like to see my girlfriend if I can and you know maybe hang out with some other friends.
Which is to say that there are a few things that I still haven’t gotten around to fixing. Rest assured that the white comment boxes were not intentional… please believe that I am intelligent enough to not make such poor decisions as that.
With the category repetition, I can’t seem to experience it. My brother noted it too and despite my efforts to reproduce it it doesn’t happen…

Oh, no no no, I didn’t think that you had intentionally designed the comment boxes like that; I assumed that it was another one of those “looks-fine-on-your-box, unintentional side-effect on my box” sort of things. When you gonna be in CO? Would love to have you over at least once, if you can stand my shithole of a house!
August 10th, 2005 at 5:27 pm
Yeh, when you gonna be back in the CO? Gotta hang with my boyeee. Cmon gangsta. Don’t leave a brotha in the dark like that.

I’m only going to be back for a few days and I’m going camping for most of it. Sorry guys.

Straight up . . .

That’s no excuse… I expect you to make time. No, literally create time from nothing. Or just have a nice time.

looks fine in mozilla…i like your site, very simple and easy to use/post comments as well as the background. The only issue is that it doesn’t quite scale to a widescreen browser, but that’s a minor nit…the right side of my screen, like the last quarter is all white. I don’t know if the work for that would be worth it, but it would be cool if you could make the code scale to the resolution (without breaking the background, or distorting it). How long before we get to this level in programming anyways?
